<p>No, not a post to do with the new Doctor Who &#8211; although that looks interesting. I think he&#8217;ll do a good job &#8211; come on, no one was sure about David Tennant to begin with, but now he seems to have even surpassed Chris Ecclestone. But now I&#8217;m losing my thread&#8230;</p>
<p>Nor is it to do with the poorly little &#8216;un &#8211; he&#8217;s on the mend.</p>
<p>No &#8211; it&#8217;s me. I had to go for a quick check up at the doctor&#8217;s yesterday, due to the fact that I moved out of the area in 2007 &#8211; alledgedly. Even though I didn&#8217;t. Ah well&#8230;</p>
<p>Anyway, to make a long story slightly longer, they decided they needed to weigh me and take note of my height. I had both measurements taken whilst wearing shoes, and they deducted an &#8216;appropriate&#8217; amount from my height and weight&#8230;too much in my opinion! According to them I am 5&#8217;11&#8243; and weigh around 100 kilos. The weight I might accept&#8230;but the height&#8230;I&#8217;m 6 foot, dammit!!</p>
<p>According to their stats, that gives me a BMI of 31.2 &#8211; nowhere near where I need or want to be. I will be taking another measurement with no shoes on as soon as I can find someone tall enough to help me. Sorry if I sound overly indignant&#8230;it&#8217;s because I am!</p>
<p>Weigh in for the week &#8211; 228lbs. Up four from last week &#8211; said that it had gone too fast, didn&#8217;t I? Also, didn&#8217;t get so much exercise this week what with looking after ill children. ENOUGH EXCUSES! I will achieve this goal!</p>

I know it&#8217;s recommended to lose more than a couple of pounds a week, but what weight is that based on? If you weigh 900lbs to start with, you&#8217;d lose 2lbs when you breathe out!</p>
<p>My BMI is now 30.4, so I&#8217;m getting closer to being just plain overweight, rather than obese.</p>

As of today, I weigh 231lbs and stand 6ft tall, giving a body mass index of over 31. Anything above 29.9 is obese &#8211; so I am officially obese!</p>
<p>My ideal weight is said to be 175lbs, which makes me about 56lbs overweight.</p>
<p>The first step, however, is to become &#8216;not obese&#8217;. To get a BMI of less than 30, I need to get to about 15 stone 10lbs &#8211; which is 220lbs. So goal #1, step #1 &#8211; lose 11lbs.</p>
<p>I intend to attack this goal by decreasing my daily calorie intake, and starting to exercise &#8211; nothing drastic yet, just a few flights of stairs or a brisk walk to begin with.</p>
<p>As it is not expected that anyone will lose more than 2lbs a week on average, then I could be down to my ideal weight in 28 weeks  (which sounds like a zombie film to me) and I should have achieved step #1 by around the start of February.</p>
